My Perfect Day

February 17, 2019

my perfect day grand chips cookie

This month’s intention was to have a little more fun and I think I nailed it yesterday, guys. In fact, I think yesterday was what I would designate a perfect day for me at this point in my life. I often think and write about in my gratitude journal about what an ideal day looks like to me. I do different scenarios that involve work or no work and try to imagine what would constitute perfection for me so I can know what I am working toward in my life. It also helps me slow down when I am in a ‘perfection’ moment and really relish how good it feels.

I didn’t necessarily orchestrate yesterday to be the perfect day with my intention, but it just so happened that all my current favorites collided.

Want to hear about it?

I slept a bit later than usual, meditated and journaled and coffeed. At 9:30, I picked up my friend and we went to a major thrift sale. I scored the perfect coffee mug, some flatware and a new-to-me purse. We visited and chatted and it made me so happy. I then dropped my friend off and went to my dance class, but before it started I was starving so I had a donut and a bagel. Gimme all the carbz. I danced and danced and then came home, showered and took a delicious nap. I had a little headache before I laid down, but it was gone by the time I woke up.

After my nap, I went and got my nails and toes done and then took myself to Thai food. Afterwards, I came home and baked the cookies in the photo above. When Keith got home from work, we visited and hung out for a bit before I went to bed early.

Am I grandma? Yes, 100%. I make no apologies for the fact that my perfect day might be the same as that of a 60 year old lady. I like what I like!! I just kept thinking, ‘wow, this day has just been wonderful! I love this!’ over and over.

It made me realize that I am super easy to please. I don’t need a ton of stuff to make me happy. I love that I noticed how much I loved yesterday so that I can remember it here and relive it again and I again. I don’t take this life of mine for granted. I hope that you also notice when things are going right for you and take the time to savor it. Those moments are why we work. They are meant to be enjoyed to the maximum, milked for all they’re worth.

Now, your turn. What is your perfect day? Please write it in the comments so I can savor it with you. Also, I’d love for you to write it down so you can literally manifest it into existence!

Do you know what your perfect day looks like?

February 2019 Intention

February 2, 2019

Today I went to the most powerful spiritual workshop and I learned so much. I haven’t even fully processed it yet, but one thing that I took away was that we are supposed to enjoy our lives. Sure, there will be times that are harder to teach you or cause you to expand. I’m not saying that we need to walk around like pollyanna during the hard times, but I do think we need to think about how we’re approaching our lives overall to make sure that we’re trying to live in a default mode of enjoyment, contentment and satisfaction.

It is so easy to focus on responsibilities and duties and all the things we have to do or should do and literally have our entire lives pass us by. I know I can get like that if I’m not careful. January was a month with lots of obligations in work and in my personal life. There was definitely fun in the mix, but as I look back on the month I see a lot of pushing through and surviving.

As I look forward to February, the month seems a little less stacked. There are not so many pressing obligations, so I am designating this a month of play and enjoyment. I am going to try to extract as much fun, happiness and satisfaction out of this month as humanly possible.

I’m not going to try to write a to do list for fun. I have no concrete plans. I just want to resolve to welcome more fun and satisfaction into my days. As I’m sitting here, I can think of lots of fun things I’d like to do this month:

  • Making homemade chocolate chip cookies
  • Going for long walks with my dogs
  • Sleeping late
  • Dancing
  • Long, luxurious baths
  • Dinners out at delicious restaurants where we start with drinks, linger over appetizers and then skip a real meal in favor of dessert
  • Going to thrift stores to find treasures
  • Organizing my house and scheming for ways to make it more beautiful
  • Journaling and meditating in the morning
  • Sending care packages to people I love
  • Reading a riveting book
  • Going on an adventure to the beach

What do you think? Are you down to make February more fun with me???

January Intentions Check-in

January 31, 2019

january in reno

In January, I had a great visit with my mom where we went to the White Elephant Preview Sale put on by the Oakland Museum Women’s Board. Um, hello 96,000 square feet of second-hand treasures! Keith and I also had a great month together with lots of quality time and a fun trip to Reno for his birthday. I also worked a whole lot in January and had to get some non-serious skin cancer spots taken care of, which was surprisingly painful. Nevertheless, I am continuing on my spiritual journey and loving it, killing it at work, enjoying my life in Oakland with my wonderful family. All in all, it was a lovely month but not without its own unique challenges.

Let’s get to my recap on my January 2019 intentions..

Blog: Post here every day of the month. Don’t overthink it. Consistency is key!

Recap: I didn’t make it every day, but I sure did write a whole heck of a lot. I am proud of my This is 33 post and my amended review of Becoming.

Home: Keep looking for my dream couch.

Recap: I am still looking. My dream couch hasn’t found me yet, but it’s not for want of me searching for it. I even wrote a little post about my couch hunt here.

Health: Get back to my 3xs weekly training sessions + weekly dance sessions. Drink lots of water.

Recap: I have been hitting the workouts hard this month and it feels so good. I have had lots of plans on Saturdays when my weekly dance class meets, but I’ve made it as much as I could. Water has been tougher. When I get busy, I forget. Hold on, let me take a drink of water real quick to make up for it.

Family: Talk about college with the oldest son. Book Boomer’s vet appointment – stop being scared of his heart murmur and handle it.

Recap: We did talk about college and he has a plan. I am excited for him to finish high school and to feel like he has a bit more control over his education. I think that will make a difference for him. I didn’t make the vet appointment. Next month, for sure. I know it’s completely illogical, but I’m scared to know if there’s something wrong with him.

Travel: Book a quick getaway for Keith’s bday to Reno.

Recap: We did it! It wasn’t necessarily quick, but we made it. Even though the trip ended on the rough side, I absolutely loved getting away and adventuring with my man.

Spirit: Continue daily morning meditation + attend spiritual workshop.

Recap: Going strong! I love my morning meditation and can definitely feel the difference when I skip it. The spiritual workshop is on Saturday and I am SO excited.

Work: Kill it at the annual business review.

Recap: We have our presentation on Monday, but I am confident that we are going to rock it.

Friends: Have an epic phone date with my bestie.

Recap: Done and done. It was SO good talking to her. She has BIG PLANS for this year and I am so excited for her.

I’m pretty proud of how much I did this month. It was a perfect combination of productivity and fun.
What about you? How was your month? Did you meet your goals? Still going strong on your resolutions or intentions?
